Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups self-raising flour Tip: Ensure the flour is fresh for the best texture.
- 1 cup heavy cream Use full-fat cream for a rich, buttery biscuit.
- 1/4 cup cold butter Cut the butter into small cubes for easy incorporation into the dough.
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the self-raising flour and cold butter. Use your fingers or a pastry cutter to blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually add the heavy cream to the mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times. Roll it out to about 1-inch thickness.
- Use a biscuit cutter to cut out round shapes from the dough and place them on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown and puffed up.
- Serve warm with butter, jam, or honey!
Notes
- Make sure your butter is cold to ensure flaky biscuits.
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of salt or sugar to the dough before mixing.
- Biscuits are best served fresh, but you can store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
